You’ll find most orchards offer much more than just apple picking including corn mazes, hay rides, pumpkin patches and petting zoos.

Play in the leaves

If you have a yard full of leaves that need to be raked, involve the kids. Rake the leaves into a huge pile and jump in before you bag them or leave them on the curb for pick up. Fall is one of the most beautiful seasons of the year so why not capture that beauty by collecting and preserving leaves? After picking some beautiful leaves, press them between two sheets of paper and place heavy books on top for at least 24 hours to ensure they are dry.

Go for a hike

Before the weather becomes too cold and the snow starts falling, hit a local trail and enjoy the view.

Go pumpkin picking

Pick your own pumpkins at a local pumpkin patch or buy a few from the store. You can start preparing for Halloween by making a jack-o-lantern with your newly picked pumpkin! You can also find decorating ideas for your home that go way beyond traditional Halloween pumpkin carving – add gourds, squash and dried corn to your home décor for a festive feel!

Visit a fall fair

Check out a local fall fair. From treats and old-fashioned kids’ games, to parades, agricultural displays and horse shows, there’s something for everyone in the family to enjoy!

Make Halloween costumes

Before you know it, Halloween will be here! Have you figured out what your costume will be? If not, it’s a great time to get started.

Fall treats

Use local and seasonal produce to make fall treats at home with the kids: old-fashioned fudge, gingerbread, pumpkin bread and pie, candy apples and hot apple cider! Yum!

Stay healthy!

And though the season is undeniably beautiful, it also marks the start of cough & cold season which means it may require a bit more effort to keep your family healthy and happy.
