7 Winter Skincare Tips

For certain people, the cold and the winter winds can put our bodies and skin through the wringer.

In fact, during those long months, the cold weather and, consequently, the increased heating at home, in the car or at the office have an impact on our skin. So to conquer such harsh winters and offset their repercussions, we must adapt our lifestyles and our skin care routine.

Luckily, we know just where to start!

Here are some tips for taking care of your sensitive skin:

  • Protect yourself from the cold. Avoid the prolonged exposures to cold and to the wind without being fully dressed. Also, make sure to dress warmly when you go out in cold weather and to carefully select your clothing materials. For example wool, hemp, and raw linen tend to irritate the skin.
  • Wash your skin morning and night with a mild cleanser, ideally one that is specifically designed for sensitive skin. Avoid soap.
  • Avoid taking long, hot showers. This can melt and strip away the skin’s natural oil barrier.
  • Moisturize your skin morning and night. Select a moisturizing product with care; seek advice from your pharmacist or cosmetician to help you choose the right one.
  • Protect your skin from the sun all year long. Use sunscreen that provides UVA and UVB protection, with an SPF of at least 30.
  • Avoid microdermabrasion, facial scrubs, purifying masks and any other unnecessary treatments and products.
  • Drink up! In winter, just like in summer, our bodies need about 2 litres of liquid a day. Hydration is a key factor in living a healthy lifestyle. Hot drinks are especially beneficial because they allow us to stay hydrated while warming us up quicker. But avoid alcohol or caffeine which have a dehydrating effect on the body.

And for skin and nasal irritations like those resulting from blowing your nose excessively, you can count on Cicadermine!

Cicadermine is an antibiotic-free homeopathic medicine that helps facilitate healing and relieve chapped skin, superficial wounds and redness.

This homeopathic medicine may not be right for everyone. Always read and follow the label.
