  • Perform body stretches once or twice daily.

  • Eat healthily and maintain a well-balanced diet that includes complex proteins, fruits, vegetables and carbohydrates.
  • Take the time to properly warm up before any physical exercise, and stretch once your activity is over.
  • Ensure you are properly hydrated during sports or physical activity.
  • Avoid sudden movements during high-intensity exercise or work.
  • When beginning a sports activity, gradually increase the intensity to allow your muscles to adapt.
  • Respect your personal limitations and listen to your body to detect the very first signs of discomfort or pain.
  • If needed, perform relaxation exercises or movements to stretch your muscles.
  • If you have sharp pain and swelling, apply ice or a cold pack.
  • If you are having muscle spasms, use heat rather than cold, because heat relaxes muscles while cold increases stiffness.
  • Relax sore muscles. Avoid any movement or activity that may aggravate the problem.
